TRAM NO. 2

Tram 2, that you take in Piazzale Negrelli  a few meters from the Ca’ Bianca Hotel, is the only public transportation in Milan that makes an important cultural and artistic path.

Crossing the bridge over the Naviglio opposite the bus stop, you can admire the Church of San Cristoforo. It is a complex made up of two churches, one Romanesque and one Renaissance. Inside frescoes schools Bergognone and Bernardino Luini. It stands on the path that led to Milan from the countryside, in an obligatory point of passage in the network of the various streams

CARROBBIO

Just head to the park of the two cathedrals, as it is called the park Vetra, to admire the Columns of San Lorenzo, built in medieval times. In front of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the largest building with a central plan of the West. Erected between the late fourth and early fifth century, was rebuilt, because of the collapse of the dome, in stages until 1600. Crossing Via De Amicis and along the park, you receive the Basilica of Sant’Eustorgio (IV century AD). The glabed facade gable dates back to the twelfth century AD, but is the result of a restoration of the Romanesque Revival style in 1865.

DUOMO

Before facing Piazza Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, should certainly be visited via Torino in the Church of Santa Maria presso San Satiro. Built at the end of the ‘400, is one of the Renaissance masterpieces of Bramante, famous for the illusory prospect of “pretend apse”.

LANZA

Symbol of Milan, Castello Sforzesco, one of the largest in Europe, was built in the fifteenth century but has undergone transformations until the beginning of 1900. Civic Aquarium (free admission every first Sunday of the month) was made on the occasion of Expo 1906 is the only hall built in the Parco Sempione not dismantled after the exhibition.

ARENA

The Civic Arena Gianni Brera was inaugurated in 1807, but even now hosts sporting events of great interest. Parco Sempione is the park for excellence of the citizens of Milan.
